I’m a middle child and I believe this makes me very diplomatic.
I see multiple perspective and often find myself in the role of “middle-man”.
I grew up in Kenya by the Nandi Highlands where many world-famous long-distance runners come from.
I enjoy a good book. My siblings and I read voraciously as children so going to a bookstore or the library centers me. I enjoy Kindle books, audiobooks and regular books.
Emily Dickinson is one of my favorite poets.
I’m fascinated by art and design and feel privileged to have lived in places with a thriving artistic community and beautiful museums.
I’m a Certified Health Education Specialist specializing in Health Education and Health Communication. My professional training and experience is at the intersection of clinical nursing and public health and includes academic research, clinical care delivery, community health and programmatic work in cancer, heart disease, HIV/AIDS and more.

I come from a family of educators in Kenya and this has influenced my life in more ways than I can count. I have held various roles in different settings and thrive on interdisciplinary collaboration. Some of the organizations I’ve worked with include the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, the San Francisco Department of Public Health, Healthways, Sunburst Projects, Sisters Together and Reaching and UNC Health Care.
